Michael Ghil got elected as an Honorary Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

Michael Ghil got elected on Monday, 3 May 2010, as an Honorary Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS).

This is his fifth honorary or foreign membership in an institution of this character, after the Academia Europaea (Foreign Member 1998, now full member); Academy of Engineering Sciences, Romania (ASTR, Honorary Member, 2004); Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW, Foreign Member, 2005); and Academy of Romanian Scientists (AOSR, Foreign Member, 2006). He is also an Honorary Member (i.e., an "Associate" in the UK terminology) of the Royal Astronomical Society (since 2002).

For those who don't know it already, Michael was born in Budapest (Buda, to be precise) and so this latest honor is a particularly moving one.
